i went to indiana and illinois for thanksgiving last week. i think this particular vacation was jam-packed with every bit of wonderfulness a person could possibly handle.
here's my nieces lauren and maddie. well, they're my cousin's kids but same difference in this family, pretty much.

i so enjoyed hanging out with all the generations. this vacation was, like, magic. i couldn't have asked for more. i feel very lucky. the weather was totally dynamic.. within the span of five days it was super warm then freeze-yer-balls-off cold. the days were perfect, every one of them, and seemingly totally different from each other. i got to hang out with so many people and catch up, bond, laugh and laugh some more, lots of serious talk, life stuff, silly stuff, special stuff, every
stuff! it seemed like there was enough juicy things going on to keep things interesting but not so much that it was detrimental for anyone. at least for now. it was vibrant and alive. full, joyous and festive. everyone seemed to be in a real place, present and at an honest point in life. it was like all the planets aligned. was i projecting? maybe some of both. here's my aunt's side yard.

i took a jog around the neighborhood one day and totally zoned out on all the LEAVES everywhere and just the fact that i was in a neighborhood, in a place with real seasons, in the fall.. and the streets were flat and there was grass and big old houses.. it was like the twilight zone but in a good way. here's another niece, little lydia..

she was a handful and a half. and cute as a button, just like all of them. oh the overload of cuteness almost killed me. i'm only now halfway through the south of market crack addicts who poop on buildings whom i've decided to kick in the nuts in order to balance everything out.
speaking of cute, i think my grandma takes the cake. here's me with 86 year old still-kicking-ass-in-scrabble-and-crossword-puzzles grandma brown, the matriarch of the mish-mash of goodness that i am fortunate enough to call my family..
